This is an original painting created by artist Kristen Johns. It is made with watercolour paints and graphite pencil on 100% cotton Arches Hot press paper (140lb). It is a one of a kind piece of art with wonderful energy and fine details.
This painting is inspired by the beautiful Western Redcedar tree which is a native tree to Vancouver Island as well as other parts of British Columbia and the west coast of North America. I've drawn and painted many aspects of the tree including its soft green fronds, swooping branches, small pinecones and stringy bark. I've also included a note of how important these trees are when it comes to absorbing CO2 and creating a "carbon sink" for our globe. I've loved vintage botanical art for a long time and this piece is inspired by that genre of art and is my version of a "study page" of the tree.
The painting is 11 x 14 inches and is signed and dated by the artist.
It will be packaged with care in a cello sleeve and shipped flat inside a sturdy cardboard mailer.
